School District 67 parents are partners in education. In addition to volunteering in classrooms, on field trips, at sports and other extra-curricular activities, area parents get in involved in their children's school through Parent Advisory Councils or PACs.
Each of the district's schools have a PAC which plays a supportive role in the school operation through its administration and staff. PACs often host special events or undertake fundraising projects in order to contribute to school activities and equipment. Parents also sit on provincially mandated School Planning Councils which develop school goals designed at improving student achievement.
The DPAC or District Parent Advisory Council is an organization made up of representatives of school PACs which acts as a liaison between schools, the school board and also the provincial parent body called the B.C. Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils or BCCPAC. As well, DPAC representatives participate in goal setting sessions and partner group meetings with the Board. DPAC was also instrumental in setting up a parent advocacy program. Following is a list of DPAC contacts and information on the advocacy line.
