Pen High is pleased to offer an Aboriginal Education program for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students. The program is supplemental and two tiered focusing on cultural enrichment and academic / personal support. From a cultural planning perspective, the Ab. Ed. program offers, at minimum one cultural opportunity per month where students will have the can to learn a rich diversity of Aboriginal cultural expression. Pow Wows, Pictographs, Louis Riel Day, Four Food Feasts Celebration, Guests speakers etc. are just a few of the many cultural enrichment activities that are offered in our program. Our program also works closely with Pen High administration and teachers to offer Indigenous Perspectives both in the classroom and through school wide assemblies. Additionally, students are supported by the Aboriginal Education teacher and educational assistant in a variety of ways such as: course changes, social-emotional support, post secondary application process, Aboriginal-specific scholarships and bursary resources and assistance with anything school related. The Aboriginal program is open to any student that identifies as being Aboriginal. If you have any questions please see Mr. Ward or Mrs. Stephens.
