Minutes of February 9, 2011 meeting

 

·         Principal’s report – Dave Searcy sent his regrets but was unable to make the meeting, as was Mr. Gupta

·         Student’s report – Cassie Erb is hoping to make a Facebook page to promote the upcoming fundraising events, etc. (next one is the Infotel delivery)

·         Fundraising report

ü      $160 worth of Beanery coffee has been sold at Willowbrook – still looking for other businesses willing to sell the coffee with the same deal as Willowbrook

ü      Willowbrook has offered to donate some large New York pictures for decorating which can then be used as door prizes

ü      Infotel books need to be picked up on Saturday, February 19th at 9:30 am from the Mission Bottle Depot on Robinson Rd – there are 28 routes for a total of 4800 books, each route/combination of routes will take approx one hour to deliver – deliveries MUST be made before February 26th but do not have to be made on the 19th (MUST be picked up that day though)

ü      Legion dinner/auction – Saturday, March 12th at 6:00 p.m., tickets are/will be available at Yaki’s, The Beanery and the Legion, prices are $18 each or 2/$32 – dinner will be a steak BBQ buffet style with Cake Box desserts – the high school jazz band will be playing

ü      Nester’s certificates – 10% goes to the Dry Grad, please let Lisa West know if you want to order some

ü      Canucks tickets/Holiday Inn package – raffle tickets are now available for sale at Yaki’s (or from Aura Sterk if you send her an e-mail to pick up some) – the game is on March 14th and includes a night at the Holiday Inn – tickets are $2 each or 3/$5 – draw date will be March 1st or 2nd with the winners notified on March 2nd

ü      Easter Purdy’s brochures have been e-mailed to the e-mail list for Grad parents, orders must be delivered to the school office no later than Wednesday, March 16th, chocolates will be delivered on Monday, April 11th to the school

·         Entertainment report

ü      Many items have been booked including the bucking bronco, Velcro wall and the hypnotist

ü      Looking at a photo booth with ability to print pictures that night

ü      Also looking at possible henna tattoos, games area with Twister, Wii

ü      DJ from last year’s Grad has been booked and will take song requests prior to night so he can ensure he has the music, he will do spot dances, etc.

ü      Need at least 14 volunteers to help with the various stations

·         Decorations report

ü      Will be doing New York street signs with each Grad’s name

ü      Would like to purchase a decorations set with a New York theme for approx $700

ü      Will be having more meetings to get people to help with the making of the decorations

·         Food report

ü      Will be looking for volunteers to man the “street vendor” booths – if anyone is interested in a particular booth, please e-mail Joni Pigot to let her know – the booths so far are as follows – Mocktails (Lisa West manning/decorating), Pizza, Popcorn, Coney Dogs, Pretzels, Fruit/veggies, Sushi and New York cheesecake (the Dickesons have signed up for any booth)

ü      Will be approaching Cobb’s Bread for possible donations of the pretzels, as well as the gentleman who parks his yellow van in front of the school on Tuesdays (also sells his wares at the park during the Farmer’s Market) – if anyone knows the name of this business, please e-mail Joni Pigot with it

ü      Will be looking into the possibility of getting a “fry” truck to park in the area where the laser tag will be set up as it will be a secured area

ü      If anyone knows of a popcorn machine for rent, please let Joni Pigot know

·         Miscellaneous

·         Julian Northcote has agreed to take the pictures for the Grad activities which will be transferred to USB flashdrives to be given to each Grad with a lanyard – still looking for the best deal on both the drives and the lanyards
