Grad Parent Meeting
March 9, 2011
Principal’s Report: Nominations for valedictorian are being accepted until Friday and then on Monday the voting process will begin. It usually take 2 or 3 ballots before the winners are determined. There total number of grads for prom and dry grad have not been determined yet but it won’t be more than 140.
Student Report: Same as Principals report but add that the Nesters points cards for dry grad have accumulated approximately $1600.00 between the 2 cards.
Committee
Reports:
Fundraising: 510 tickets were sold for the hockey game. Dionne Bakalos was the winner. The info tel phone book delivery went great. We were also asked to deliver in Faulder. The cheque has not been received yet but it is expected to be just over $2000.00
There have only been 50 tickets sold for thej Legion dinner so far. We have told the Legion to expect about 100 people so we still need to sell more tickets. The are lots of silent auction items and there will also be a 50/50 draw so the dinner is expected to be a great fundraiser. April 16 is the manure bagging and delivery date. We will need lots of student and parent help. The manure orders have been very slow so far so please keep trying to get the word out. Coffee is still being sold at Willowbrook Lane. We are also looking at the Pharmasave and Summerland Sweets as options for selling coffee as well.
Donations: The list of prize and dollar donations received so far is huge and was emailed to all grad parents on the email list. Donations keep coming in every day. Mike Sterk will be checking with The Source to see if the get the zip drives for all the pictures. The zip drives will be loaded with pictures and given as a gift to each grad. The lanyards for the zip drives have already been ordered.
Entertainment: The entertainment committee will check with the DJ to see if he supplies his own gifts for spot dances etc. or if we need to supply them for him. The hypnotist, party works and DJ are all booked and the deposits have all been paid. Information has been received from Tattoos for Now, they air brush tattoos and if we order and pay by March 15 we would get a $125.00 discount and then the fee would be $588.00 rather than $728.00. Allyssa will take the information back to the students tomorrow and see if they are interested in the tattoo artists. If there is good student interest them Heather will book to tattoo company.
Decorations: The decorating committee will be having work parties starting in April and would appreciate help. The decorating committee would like a budget so that they may start purchasing items to make the decorations. They have been approved to order the New York themed items at a cost of $700.00. The have also been an additional $500.00 to purchase items needed for decorations. The funding amount will be revisited at a later date if additional funds are needed. Grads in the art department will be making the back drop for the arena but if we would like any more decorations like balloons etc. the must be ordered and paid for by the grad parent committee.
Security: The security committee has not met yet.
Food: The Sweet Tooth
is donating cheese cake for dry grad and the Spud Brothers will be set up and
serving French fries. The Nesters points and Nesters gift card sales are going
great. We are looking for portable soft
drink vending equipment so that we may have pop canisters at the mocktail bar
rather than bottle of pop.
The canisters w3ould be much cheaper.
Finance: Once the info tel funds are in there will be about $5800.00 in the account.
Next
meeting Wednesday April 13th.
All committees please attend.
