Minutes: Minutes from the January 5, 2011 meeting were adopted by Christine Petkau and second by Helen Adams.
Trustee’s Report: Connie
Denesiuk. The Superintendents report on student achievement has been submitted
to the school board and is available to read on the district website. Approval has been received so that

Knowlton will be taking a full bus load of students to the career fair in
Both the Sr. Girls and Sr. Boys won the home basketball tournament. Final and mid term exam were Jan 24-28 and the new semester started Jan 31. One class (recreation leadership) may be cancelled due to low enrollment but all students will be placed in classes with available space. Class composition meetings have started. No classes are oversize but some do have more than 3 designated students.
Upcoming events: Basketball games and tournaments. The play A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum opens on Wednesday night. Grade 9,10,11 will have the option to go skiing. Dance of the Decades will be Feb 22 6:30-10:30pm. Coarse selection is starting, the first stage is to find out what the student interest is.
Due to high student interest there will be Jr. and Sr. girls soccer teams. Ms. Clarke will coach the Jr’s and Mr. Fry will coach the Sr’s.
A draft copy of the 2011-2012 school district calendar was shown. The date for the spring parent teacher conferences has been changed to Thursday March 12. The conferences will be both drop in by booked appointments in the afternoon. The SPC met today before the PAC meeting, the main topic of discussion was the rubric. Mrs. Verrier is still recovering and she is back part time but is not teaching yet. The school is looking at having the ICBC presentation back again for grade 11 & 12.
Treasurer’s Report: Marsuk Friesen was unable to attend.
DPAC Report: DPAC has a treasurer now. SSS is not a member of the BCCPAC because our application was never sent in and our membership has not been paid. I this is sent in before the end of February we can still be a member. BCCPAC offers a $500.00 bursary to students and if we are not a member our students would not be able to apply.
The high cost of high school athletics was discussed and Pen High is looking at corporate sponsorship to help with these costs. Pen High is consulting with the board to see if there is any policy around corporate sponsorship.
DPAC is requesting report from each PAC in the district. They would like to be more informed and have better communication from the PAC’s
