Speech Language Pathologists

Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) have a Master's degree in speech language development and communication disorders.  We require licensing by an independent college under the Health Professions Act (BC College of Speech and Hearing), and are members of a national organisation (Speech and Audiology Canada).

We are integral members of school-based teams.  Our roles include assessment and diagnosis of communication delays and disorders, goal setting, planning and implementation of programs (through both direct therapy and consultation) and training of other support personnel.  We use current research to guide our practice with the goal of helping all students reach their academic, social and emotional potential in their community through healthy and effective communication.
