Smoky Skies Bulletin

As a smoky skies bulletin is in effect for our region due to wildfire smoke, the District is closely monitoring the situation. To provide the safest conditions for students and staff, SD No. 67 will continue to operate school ventilation systems to provide the best indoor air quality possible in the circumstances. Here are a few details on how we are keeping students and staff safe:
• Daily monitoring of the Health Canada Air Quality Index to determine daily level of risk to support school plans for outdoor activity Air Quality Health Index - BC Air Quality - https://www2.gov.bc.ca/.../air/air-quality/air-advisories...
• Allowing students who are sensitive to the smoke to remain indoors during lunch/breaks;
• Closing exterior doors and windows and utilizing ventilation systems during period of health warning;
• Rescheduling strenuous outdoor activities;
For students that have health risks such as asthma or other breathing conditions that are directly impacted by the air quality, families are asked to contact their school so that individual arrangements can be made.
