Bus Delays & Service Updates
School District No. 67 (Okanagan Skaha) makes every effort to ensure that school buses operate on schedule each day. Transportation disruptions may occur due to road conditions, severe weather, driver shortages, mechanical issues, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Important Information for Families
Please ensure you and your child have a plan and a safe location to return to if a school bus does not arrive after 15 minutes or if service is cancelled.
Delays of More Than 15 Minutes
Notice of delays exceeding 15 minutes will be communicated through:
- School websites
- District website
- School District social media channels
Bus Cancellations
Notice of cancellations will be communicated through:
- Email to all transportation contacts registered with the school
- School websites
- District website
- School District social media channels
During Poor Weather Conditions
Pick-up and drop-off times may be delayed when road conditions are poor. Major delays or cancellations will be communicated as early as possible.
Registration & Fees
How do I register my student for transportation?
Transportation registration is completed through MySchoolBucks. Students must be registered annually.
What is the registration deadline?
The registration deadline for route planning is June 30.
What happens if I register after June 30?
Late registrations may be assigned to the nearest available stop or placed on a waitlist. Routes will not be adjusted to accommodate late registrations.
Can I register during the school year?
Yes. Transportation registration is available throughout the school year; however, it may take up to three weeks to process.
Do I need to register every year?
Yes. Students must be registered annually to ride the school bus.
How do I pay transportation fees?
Transportation registration fees and rider fees are paid through MySchoolBucks.
Bus Passes & Schedules
Do students need a bus pass?
Yes. Students are required to present their bus pass when boarding and exiting the bus.
When will my child receive their bus pass?
New riders will receive a bus pass through their school. Existing riders should continue using their current pass.
When will I receive my child's bus schedule?
Registered riders will receive route, bus stop, and schedule information by email during the last week of August.
What if my bus pass is lost or damaged?
Replacement bus passes are available through MySchoolBucks for a fee of $10.
What if the information on the bus pass is incorrect?
Please contact the Transportation Department so the information can be corrected and a replacement pass issued if required.
Routes & Stops
Why does my child have to ride the assigned bus?
Students are assigned to specific routes to ensure accurate ridership records and compliance with transportation regulations.
Can I request a different bus route?
If another available route serves the same stop and school, a request may be submitted to the Transportation Department for consideration.
Can I request a stop closer to my home?
Stops are established to safely and efficiently transport students. Additional stops will not typically be added to existing routes.
Can drivers add stops or change routes?
No. Route planning and stop assignments are managed by the Transportation Department.
Eligibility & Courtesy Riders
What is an eligible rider?
Eligible riders attend their catchment school and live beyond established walk limits.
What is a courtesy rider?
Courtesy riders attend a school outside their catchment area, attend a district program of choice, or live within walk limits.
Will courtesy riders be accommodated?
Courtesy riders may be accommodated when space is available and no additional stops are required.
During the School Year
What if we move during the school year?
Please contact the Transportation Department with your new address at least three weeks before your move whenever possible.
Will transportation fees be prorated?
No. Transportation rider fees are not prorated.
Riding the Bus
Can my child ride to after-school activities or daycares?
No. Transportation service is provided between approved home addresses and school only.
Can my student bring a friend home on the bus?
No. Guests are not permitted on school buses.
Can my child bring a scooter, skateboard, skates, or sports equipment?
Items must fit safely on the student's lap and must not block the aisle or create a safety concern.
