Supporting Lifelong Learning Through Early Childhood Programs

The early years—from birth to age 8—are a critical time in a child’s development, laying the foundation for lifelong learning, health, and well-being. During this formative period, children benefit immensely from rich, engaging experiences that nurture their physical, social, intellectual, and emotional growth.

School District No. 67 (Okanagan Skaha) is proud to offer a variety of early learning programs designed to support families and children in these important years. Together, these programs reflect School District 67’s commitment to creating inclusive, high-quality early learning experiences that help every child thrive.

Ready, Set, Learn: Helping Your Preschooler Prepare for Kindergarten

Ready, Set, Learn is a welcoming program designed to support families as they help their preschoolers get ready for school. As a parent or caregiver, you play a vital role in your child’s early learning journey. A positive start to Kindergarten can have a lasting impact on your child’s educational success and personal development.

Key areas that support school readiness include:

  • Building confidence and friendships
  • Developing language and communication skills
  • Learning to follow instructions and routines
  • Encouraging creativity, motivation, cooperation, and persistence

Elementary schools invite you and your child to visit and learn more about the program, including StrongStart opportunities. Please contact your local school to confirm your attendance at their Ready, Set, Learn presentation.
